dB Meter & Spectrum Analyzer App Reviews

Filters dont make sense.

The db-c filter fives gives me a MUCH higher value than the db-z filter. This should never be the case because the db-z filter is strictly flatter than the db-c filter. The db-c filter attenuates the bass more. So why is it giving me a significantly larger reading?

Very accurate, beautiful design.

Very useful where accurate sound metering is needed.

See report number 3 below

(See update) (original review--5 stars). The calibration feature is uncommon among sound level apps–good feature. Clean design. The addition of a higher contrast screen toggle would be awesome. Another app that makes our phones that much more useful. (Update--3 stars). I want to like this app. Developer states for personal use. Suspect most higher ratings from those who havent confirmed operation of app. I have since checked against Quest metering and calibration equipment. Theres no easy way to calibrate this app without crashing. Tried everything: reset phone, shutdown/restarted phone, try calibrating again and again (5s).... Wont get into specific readings and numbers. Bottom line: not accurate as I hoped it would be but find it roughly acceptable for gross measurements only--quiet, noisy, loud enough to probably need hearing protection--dbA only. DbB, dbC not even close. To be fair lets consider that the app resides on a "phone". Be careful. 3 stars down from 5. (Report 3, Jan. 24, 4 stars) Update released January 24… Good news, at least for me, no more crashing during calibration of DbA. But, DbA calibration tricky at higher noise levels. Measures accurately at mid levels. (See #value delta of cal. screen vs. live measure screen). Developer: thank you for conscientious updates. On your way to "best-of" app Users: quick note – remember to hold your phone upside down, microphone in the air, not in the palm of your hand blocking microphone. Developer--possible tweak for future updates??-flip screen 180 degrees feature!!

Handy

Very handy on measuring db in surrounding area . Great to use at sports events to see how loud it is, or just around the house. It is great for the price and is pretty accurate

Must try

This app is amazing, a must try app. Easy to use interface great layout!

Whats the point?

Yeah this app works okay. But really I dont see I point to it. Cool to mess around with for like 5 minutes and then never open again.

Thanks Vlad!

Near perfect Db meter in a modern and sleek iPhone 5 laid out screen. The only issue I saw was a spelling issue. "Rusting" Leaves should be Rustling Leaves. I wont let that keep it from 5 stars though.

Fantastic Decimeter!

Literally the best decibel app on the App Store. I needed to use a decimeter for a physics project and this was the only one I could find that was consistent and easy to use!

Garbage app

The app shows a db rating of 55 even in complete silence. Completely inaccurate. Horrible layout as well and no instructions in the app. I tried calibrating it and it didnt work. Garbage app. Heavily do NOT recommend.

Almost perfect

I love this App and the ability to save records. I would have given 5 stars if there were a way to clear the data, or a way to contact tech support about this.

Does the job surprisingly well

Side by comparison with another calibrated meter using wide dB span of white noise and real life sounds showed very close results with minimal adjustment to app. The app provides reasonable data that is helpful for basic sound evaluation. A certified and calibrated meter would be required if you are involved in a technical or legal matter.

minimalistic clean interface that’s enjoyable to use

i wanted an easy-to-read and easy-to-understand db tool and this meets the bill. recommend.

fake app

Dont be fooled by the fake reviews and the design. It pretty much does nothing. A random number generator.

Awful

Horrible app - waste of $

Don’t buy

My money was stolen! Never got it to work!

Awful

Good design is all this has got. When you switch to another app and then come back it stops measuring.. It displays the peak as 0. The peak isnt as instantaneous as on competing apps, and its not a peak anyways (its the current level). The graph doesnt provide much useful information — a free app can do better. What a waste of money.

Good db meter

Very smart, easy to use and accurate db meter. GPS location is what I need for my reports and this app let me send the record for each location. 5 stars

Terrific tool

This is an easy to use app that is a must have for anyone interested in protecting their hearing. I highly recommend it. The app developer is quick to answer questions and provide support.

Works well

Easy to use, clear informative Ui, reasonably accurate, and surprisingly useful.

Love it!

So convenient and easy to use. You have an objective reference at your finger tips, not a "feeling". Helps keep sounds safe. Hearing is priceless.
